This project was for Canva’s joint initiative with sailor and climate activist Lisa Blair to teach students about climate change.

My part in this project was copy editor and lesson plan designer.

Lesson plan template design

I came up with a few different designs and color schemes for the client (Canva) to choose from. Because the final deliverable lessons would be in Canva, I designed the templates in Canva. After the client chose the template format, I put the lesson into the Canva templates and made design choices for each lesson plan according to the topic.

Photography selection

Being a photographer, I am very selective when it comes to choosing imagery for a projects. I look for photos that are well-exposed, dynamic, and when appropriate, impactful in some way. Visual appeal is very important for creating documents that students will want to engage with, so whenever I’m permitted, I choose images that enhance, uplift, and brighten up the page.

Copy editing

As copy editor, aside from mechanics, I made sure the lesson content was consistent in voice, style, structure, etc.
