This was a project for the World Expo 2020 Dubai UAE Expo School Programme, which was moved to October 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This project was done in July 2021, my first lesson plan and one of my earliest Word layout designs.

Layout design

I designed the lesson plan template in Microsoft Word, which I use when I don’t know how long the lesson and activity content will be. As documents I deliver have to be accessible (readable by a screen reader for people who are blind or have low vision), I had to pay particular attention to the layout, formatting, and alt text for the graphics and images, which can be a little tricky when you also want a visually interesting layout.

Graphic design

The client provides some screenshots and GIFs of the cute robots that were the mascot for each lesson category. As PDFs don’t display animated GIFs, I exported still versions of the mascots using Photoshop. I sourced additional graphics and recolored them to match the categories.

Copy editing

I copy edited the lesson content before moving them into the final template and then made additional adjustments as needed to better fit the lesson layout. Below are a few image previews.
